STAR Eco STATION (TK-5th) 12 Weeks of Summer Camp!
Take a walk on the wild side this summer as you befriend some of the world’s most unusual creatures and join the fight to save the planet at our internationally recognized environmental science museum and exotic wildlife rescue center. Party with our parrots, live it up with our alligators, and get down and dirty with our dragons (that’s right, dragons!), all while discovering new and exciting ways to protect our planet’s delicate ecosystem. SUPER STAR (1st-5th)
Try it all this summer with STAR’s one-of-a-kind variety camp! SuperSTAR allows you to participate in a variety of programs including sports, outdoor play, and S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) fields! In addition to offering campers the most varied experience, this is also our most popular and best-valued summer program. SuperSTAR camp encourages campers’ creativity, innovation, and exploration. Try a little bit of everything this summer and discover your new passion! SuperSTAR camp’s unique format is just one of the many reasons L.A. KINDERPREP (TK-K)
Get your incoming kindergartener ready for the school year with STAR’s Kinder Prep! This program is specially tailored for incoming TK and Kindergartners. This opportunity is to get your TK & Kindergartner prepped! Get a head start and explore science, art, movement and much more. They’ll be comfortable in a fun, safe, and closely monitored setting. Children will love meeting new friends and getting familiar with the school setting. Don’t miss this opportunity to get your kindergartner prepped!
Chess: Knights and Queens of the Battle
Welcome to the world of Chess and enjoy playing one of the most popular games in the world! Our Chess experts have crafted fun mini-games and activities to keep the campers challenged and motivated, no matter the skill level! Campers will participate in Mega Chess: Played as a group with 2 feet tall chess pieces, Battle Bots: Challenge a chess robot that moves the pieces on its own, Rapid Relay: Students play against the Chess coaches - learn from the best! It’s a great way to have fun, exercise your brain, and spend time with friends and family. Campers will develop skills such as critical thinking, patience, focus, creativity, and more!
Art Studio
In the Art Studio camp, students explore the amazing urban art movement: the Global Angel Wings Project. Campers will experiment with various art media to create their own individual version of wings inspired by the Global Angel Wings Project. They will expand the concept to include various types of wings such as bat, bird, butterfly, etc. Campers will have the opportunity to explore everything from structured art lessons to creating a team art installation! Aspiring artists will develop fine art skills of sketching, painting, sculpting, and the art of installation to produce 2D and 3D works of art using pens, watercolors, paint, and clay and other materials. At the end of the week, campers will exhibit their wings installation from 2:30-3:00 pm!
Digital Art: Cartoon Design & Animation
Join us for an amazing journey through digital art and design. Campers will create cartoons and cartoon animations while learning how digital art is used in the real world. Aspiring cartoonists will work with various software apps such as Stop Motion, Garage Band, Procreate, and Adobe Premiere to create their designs and animations that will be showcased at the end of camp. Students will also learn how to design and create their own customized artwork that will be turned into camp t-shirts!
World of Cooking - International Cuisine
Our culinary arts camp explores kid-friendly versions of recipes and creations made popular by chefs and restaurateurs worldwide. This culinary camp creates an inspired, fresh and fun foundation for the hopeful chefs of tomorrow, working on kitchen fundamentals like baking, sautéing and more. From savory dishes like margherita pizzas and tasty spring rolls to gluten-free confections, students will explore the latest culinary trends and cooking techniques while discovering the brightest new flavors on the chef scene.
Screen to Stage - Dance to Your Favorite Movies
Calling all dance lovers! Join us on stage for an action packed week of exciting and challenging dance moves inspired by some of your favorite films such as Frozen, Zombies, and Sing 2. We are going to move and groove to them all. Our workshop will teach introductory lessons in hip hop, jazz, tap, ballet, and freestyle. Students will also have the chance to make their own costume over the course of the week for a parent-welcomed showcase held the last afternoon of camp. Campers will find joy in movement, gain confidence in their individuality, and have fun being part of an ensemble!
Engineering: Amusement Park Design
Become an imagineer as you discover the structural engineering secrets of your favorite theme park rides! Construct your own mini roller coaster as you learn about banked turns, lifts, dips, and dives of coasters. Apply the laws of inertia and momentum in different theme park rides that spin, sway, loop, pull, bounce, and twirl! Explore speed, friction, and motion through roller coaster engineering. Learn how water is used to propel riders up and how gravity pulls riders back down. Use all your new skills to design and build your own mini theme-park!
LEGO® Builders of the Future
Lego lovers unite to tackle climate change! Learn about the natural cycles of our planet through play and come up with innovative solutions to modern problems. Create tomorrow's cities, self-driving trucks, and robots that make our lives easier. Delve into Lego crafts, games, and computer technology. Find your creative side, make new friends and build yourself a summer of fun, brick by brick!
Media Arts: Team Kid Mega Force Filmmaking Camp
Get ready to transform yourself into the worlds most powerful super human team with special powers! Team Kid Mega Force will be an action packed short film that showcases kids super abilities in fighting for justice. Students will have the opportunity to create their own sci-fi action packed movie like the Marvel series in this one week summer camp. Aspiring filmakers will learn how to write a script, compose a shot, breakdown a scene, develop a character, master editing techniques and most importantly work in a collaborative environment to create their own super hero movie. STAR Minecraft: “Brave New World"
Embark on an adventure with your classmates as you take on a journey to a Newfoundland and experience what settlers did years ago in history to survive. Build a settlement with your friends, find food and interact with neighboring tribes to trade for useful materials for your village! Students will alternate between playing on a survival world together and doing some creative challenges as well as some minigames. From the basics of Minecraft to the very complex builds that the game can offer, students will finish this camp with the knowledge to not only be a Minecraft master, but also teach others how to become one as well. Through Minecraft students develop creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork, and time management foundational skills.
RockSTAR: Summer of Rock!
Join us for special summer of rock! Students will join a real, live rock'n'roll band with guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, and singing. Each action-packed day will be filled with fun activities such as twice-a-day band practice, group songwriting, designing band art, and an intro to music production. Music parts will be customized to each individual student's skill level. From song structure to stage moves, students will get to experience music the way only real rockers do! Campers will perform in a live show at the end of the week for family and friends.
Science: Pika Pika Printing Lab
Join our Pokemon Scientists as we explore technology that can help us save the world! In the Science Lab we will experiment with Polymers, Bouncy Balls and Atomic Models using Chemistry. Investigate how to use 3D modeling software and 3D printers to print your very own Pikachu Coin. Learn how to play the trading card game using math and critical thinking skills. Each camper will make a 30 card deck to take home and practice their new skills with friends and family!
Musical Theatre: Lion King Experience Jr.
Join the theatrical Pride at STAR Summer Camp as we bring the African savannah to life on stage in The Lion King Experience! Disney's The Lion King has captivated the imagination of audiences around the world for years and will for years to come! This summer students are invited to perform as an iconic cast of characters and work as an ensemble to tell this inspiring, coming-of-age tale. Perfect for young artists interested in exploring theater-making for the first time or seasoned performers ready for their moment in the spotlight. Everyday will include acting, singing, dancing, as well as some mask and puppetry making. Students will have a smashing culminating performance and get to bring home costumes, masks, and puppets to remember this epic experience!
Wooden Toy Design & Entrepreneurship
Learn how to become a junior woodcraftsman as you design and create your own line of animal inspired wood toys for your new business! Campers will learn what is needed to set up their own business as they learn to create their own products: logo creation, design, branding, strategies, production planning, and more! Students will have a great time learning the fundamentals of woodworking as they learn about animals in the wild -- and at home! Campers will learn to safely work with tools like hammers, nails, sanders, files, drills, and more! Students will display their wood toy merchandise in a mini convention attended by prospective clients (family and friends).
STAR Velocity Sports Camp
Join our experienced Sports coaches as you learn skills, drills, and the thrills of sports! Players will mix it up with their favorite sports like soccer, basketball, track and field, and martial arts as they master basic skills and learn about teamwork, strategy, rules, and most importantly, good sportsmanship. Have a blast playing with our giant soccer ball and basketball arcade games. Enjoy competing against your fellow campers on the final day of camp in our mini sports tournaments. You'll have fun building and strengthening your sports ability when you join us in this fun, high voltage energy camp!
Fashion: Cruising into Summer!
All aboard! Your cruise awaits on this fabulous journey to soak up some fashion and accessories from around the world. Each project will be themed to highlight an accessory, garment or souvenir from popular hot spots perfect for summer holiday. From straw hats to help beat the heat to decked out sandals on our feet. We will be designing outfits and producing wearable art perfect for this fun, fashion tour! Perfect for sewing beginners or on your way to pro! Your summer vacation runway awaits. Bon Voyage!
