Hello there interested parties,Everyone here at STAR theatre is absolutely stoked to begin the next session. Site Directors are in the process of turning in their enrichment forms and I am happy to report that no schools have requested a new teacher! All of the teachers are keen to return after spring break to begin directing the extravaganza spectacular! Eco-Cool the Musicool is written, the music has been recorded, and many of the costumes and props have been ordered. STAR is growing every session with more and more school requesting our services. Our department cannot wait to make STARS out of as many kids as possible. So sit back and anticipate a fantastic STAR original musicool filled with rock, blues, country, regge, and dance!!! Â

Star Theatre Mid-Session Update
February 4th, 2008 · No Comments
Hello again STAR Theatre fans,I have been hearing little else besides happy news and responses for the session thus far. The site directors have been working hard this session and have submitted their teacher evaluation forms to ensure that the kids are getting the best experience possible out of the classes we offer. From the assessments we got back our program is in a fantastic state. Thus far the children have been trained in voice projection, annunciation, and control (skills that will benefit them socially and academically for the rest of their lives). They have performed exercises and games pertaining to body control, movement, emotion, and creating the character. This week is greek theatre and masks, a lesson we have been excited about since its conception. We are all revved up for the upcoming musical. The kids are so stoked to create these characters and be able to visit them live at the STAR Eco-Station. It’s going to be something else!!! Keep checking the blod for updates and info and, as always, we greatly encourage contribution and feedback. STAR THEATREÂ

Enrichment 08 Begins!!!
January 22nd, 2008 · No Comments
Hope everyone out there had a great 3 day weekend. For us here at Star though we still had to anticipate the enrichment classes starting today. We as department heads were busy last week preparing for our beginning of session meeting with our 20 professional actors and theatre professionals. It went swimmingly. Not only did we hand out our lesson plans for the session (you can see the curriculum in our last post) but we were all able to share stories and lessons learned from the last Alice’s Day in Wonderland Session. We taught each-other games and talked about the kids we saw grow and make strides through the STAR Theatre Program. It was informative and rewarding. We have an appointment to take the tour of our incredible Star Eco-Station. We plan of taking all of these animals personalities and quirks and writing them into a fantastic original STAR production. We cant wait to see the kids smile when they visit these animals that they’ll get to play and mimic in what is going to be an amazing spectacle. Best as always…STAR Theatre

January 14th, 2008 · No Comments
STAR Theatre is back for a fantastic winter session. We are taking the next 10 weeks to put our kids through Theatre Boot Camp!!! Each class will move them one step closer to understanding the acting process as well as some other facets of the art-form (masks, make-up, props, etc). Attached below is our curriculum for this upcoming session. After the children have mastered these lessons we move onto rehearsals for the next STAR Theatre Show: Eco-Cool the Musicool!!!…an original musical that shows us what those Eco-Station creatures are up to after all of the humans go home. Its great to be back and everybody’s stoked for a fantastic 2008!

Alice’s Day in Wonderland Premiere Week!!!
December 12th, 2007 · No Comments
STAR Theatre hit a home run this week with an immensely well received run of an original adaptation entitled Alice’s day in Wonderland. The show featured original songs (complete with a Cheshire Cat Rap) as well as choreographed dances from STAR Theatre’s professionally trained staff. Also, in order to leave Wonderland the queen requires Alice to win a theatre game. This allows parents to witness that, while our department can provide colorful song and dance sequences, we remain dedicated to teaching children focus, concentration, public speaking, and impulse commitment that one would find in an advanced acting class.   For the first time ever STAR Theatre has given each school site director their own set AND costume kit. This recent addition allows all the schools to receive the exact same materials for their shows! It allows for continuity and flexibility and at the end of the day establishes STAR children’s theatre as a fantastic outlet to make a child at any school a star!!! For the past two weeks 2-3 schools a night have been dazzling parents with colorful characters and ambiance. As always STAR theatre provided technicians at all of these shows with complete P.A. systems allowing each line to resonate throughout the space and each song to fill the room with melody and laughter. As new directors to the department we could not have asked for a better beginning. These kids all worked hard over the ten week session and the smiles on their faces as they gave their bows were both heartwarming and well deserved.Â
